Asian countries are often faced with land/mud slides that pose a serious geo-hazard to the environment and socio-economics. These failures are attributed to a combination of natural and man-made factors which include rapid urban and infrastructure development in hilly areas.

Sufficient planning & management is essential to ensure stability and safety of developments most significantly, during times of extreme weather. Slope engineering methods are pivotal to determining aspects such as, the capability of soil mass to withstand gravitational & dynamic loads such as earthquakes. All in which equates to better slope designs and decreasing the risk of a catastrophic land slide.
