BIM Summit | 5th - 6th March 2025 | Pan Pacific Toronto, Canada

OVERVIEW

The Canadian Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Owner, and Operator (AECOO) community stands on the brink of significant transformation. Building Information Modelling (BIM) offers a comprehensive framework to drive this change. Yet, Canada remains the only G7 nation without a national BIM mandate, with only 31% of the industry utilizing BIM. BuildingSMART Canada has issued a compelling call to action through its “Roadmap to Lifecycle BIM in the Canadian AECOO Community.” This roadmap lays the groundwork and charts a clear path forward for implementing governmental mandates at all levels across the country.

Many countries worldwide have implemented BIM mandates to enhance collaboration and boost performance across their design, construction, and asset management sectors. Although Canada lacks such regulations, BIM continues to make a significant impact on the country’s construction industry. Numerous architectural projects have successfully adopted BIM methodologies, driving innovation and efficiency. Notably, in 2022, the BIM Academy was chosen to provide digital guidance for a $1.72 billion hospital redevelopment project in British Columbia. A survey by Dodge Data & Analytics revealed that over 61% of industry professionals reported substantial improvements in data coordination and error detection after adopting BIM, while 55% experienced notable reductions in decision-making time. As BIM reshapes the construction landscape, its market size is projected to reach $15.06 billion by 2027, according to Allied Market Research.

BIM’s role in the AEC industry is crucial for addressing the complexities of modern construction projects. By providing a comprehensive platform for collaboration, planning, and execution, BIM helps stakeholders navigate challenges and achieve superior results. Join us at the BIM Summit to gather insights into the various methods and digital tools used to ensure the best BIM strategies are instilled to maximize project effectiveness and profitability.
